MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION
AS A PROFESSION
In simple terms, MT is the conversion of doctors’ digitized audio
files into text files. The doctor, while examining patients or
performing surgery, dictates the details of the procedures into a
Dictaphone which is attached to the computers. The data is collected
and transferred to the respective Transcription Company in the form
of voice files. The Transcription Company downloads these files and
transcribes them using sophisticated software. Upon completion,
these files are transferred back to the
doctors via the Internet.

According to a survey conducted by NASSCOM, IT Enabled services in
India employed 70,000 people as of 31st March 2001. This generated a
revenue of 4100 crore (US$900 million) for fiscal 2000-01(includes
both export and domestic market). As per Nasscom –McKinsey report
1999, revenue from IT Enabled Services could increase to an annual
US $ 17-18 billion by 2008 and provide employment to more than 1.1
million people by that year.
THE BUSINESS PROCESS
Dictation is received in a digital format from the client, which is
then transcribed by our qualified Medical Transcriptionists into a
computer file. The transcribed computer file is passed on to the
primary "Quality Assurance" team where qualified employees check the
hard copy files for content and accuracy. Reports are then passed on
to a Second Level "Quality Assurance" Team where the reports are
randomly checked by our Staff Doctors. Once approved by our final
"QA" teams, the reports are transmitted to the client in the
specified format.

Service Training Program. They are trained to accurately and
efficiently interpret and transcribe data and information for our
clients. Medical, insurance investigations, and other specialist
